Reworked area behind driver. The drivers area is now on the same level as the step.
Truss reconfigured.
Starting to assemble the dash parts.

Eric, I really like the approach you are taking here. Not quite a driver's-up, but about half of that modification.
I am sure you will document it, but it looks like you left the dash at the stock height - maybe an optical illusion. Not matter what, I assume you will need to raise the steering column. Will look forward to your documentation of that modification.
Great work!
Jim

Re: John & Tara's 1982 Eagle Model 10
Jim,
Eric is raising the dash a bit & all this works out for the good because the steering column wasn't long enough to begin with. I thought I was sitting in a bunker ready to launch hand grenades or something. Now it sits up just right especially since I'm only 5'8". With this raise he'll be able to get more distance on the steering column which was moving the dash as you turned it. Fingers crossed that fixes the problem. I'm visioning the under dash heat & air & all those hoses & vents. And the loss of free flowing air & sound coming through the front end while en route. Thanks Eric...

John's bus already has a freightliner tilt/tele column. The installer did not put a slip joint in. The HFB box actually raises slightly at the center posistion. His mounts and front were moving up and down. Sooner or later a weld will fail and you have a loose wheel in your hands!!LOL By raising the floor I can put a slip joint in. I will add about three inches under the dash. The defrost vents will go in that area.

New heat and air unit. It is a little larger that the one I put in mine. May be a little tight but should work great!!

The stock R&M dash sits at a funny angle. In order to make it sit at the right angle, the back need to be streached by app. 3" inches.
Stock view.
With back streached. I use flexboard fiberglassed. It is screwed on the front then glassed on back. When the back dries the front will glassed.
