Just got her home on the 15th of July. On the way stopped for fuel. (Fuel gauge don't work) $140 of fuel, tank full. Nice, must have been near full. 2 hour drive at 95 degrees out, no air, no fan, and a wife and dog saying do something. Oh yeah, traffic jam, open bus doors for air.

16th of July
1. Let the cleaning out of junk in in the baggage compartment.
Hum, New tire chains, nice.
Wow, enough stage carpet to cover all the upstairs and maybe downstairs.

18th of July
2. Put her in the shop for a DOT inspection. Just gotta know

Welcome to our forum, Richard

Thanks for starting a project thread - we love those.

Fuel gauges often do not work. Most of us go by miles from last fill-up (with a decent margin and maybe factored for heavy pulling).

Getting a DOT inspection is a great thing to do. However, if it is not too late, ask the folks doing the DOT inspection to make sure the results are not reported. We do not need to have a DOT inspection to operate and it is better not to have a paper trail if they find an issue.

Oh I know, I'm a cdl truck driver. I should have been more clear, my mechanic is doing a, it's like a DOT inspection not a real one. ;)

On the flip side the carpets are cleaning up real nice. Can't wait to to get the bus home.

This is our plan for her.

1. Water 500gal 4000lbs plus 40lbs for bladder
2. Gray water 100gal possible 800lbs plus 20lbs for bladder
3. Solar plus gen set and batteries enough for 15kw 3000lbs plus or minus
4. Wife wants full kitchen that means full size fridg. freezer, weight unknown
5. Wife wants full size washer and dryer.
6. Furniture not much needed just her and I.
7. Composting toilet no black water mess and plumbing.

Goal fully functional living just the same as we have now. Just smaller. Thus the reason we bought a 40 foot bus..

Your plan sounds pretty good. However, the 500 gallon fresh water seems quite high. We have 120 and can go for over a week if we are careful (2 people).

I really want a 1000 gals of fresh water, just can't scale it. Also, where is the best place to put that much water? Front, middle or back luggage compartment.

Status update

Well, the list...
1, muffler is toast - conversion time for that.
2. Engine mounts - very poor condition, New needed
3. Suspension, was told one of them not like the others. Gotta get that sorted out.

Outside of that DOT inspection good.
