Well here is a small effort to update this thread. If i have more time, Ill continue to add posts.

Our generator install was too loud for out taste, It was a fairly low hertz resonating throughout the entire bus, during day to day activities it was ok but trying to go to sleep, It was just that constant super deep noise that really penetrates your eardrums.  When i built the compartment i built it to the best of my knowledge and ability, but I have a lot more of both those things now, so decided to redo compartment.

I dont have a plan set in stone yet, But i will be remote mounting radiator, and probably getting rid of the squirrel cage and replacing with a 12v automotive electric super quiet fan i have sitting on a shelf. I did see a thread from the late 2000's on BCM where luvrbus said 12v automotive fans couldnt keep gennys cool in az heat, but, I'm fairly certain that the technology has improved considerably. The 12v fan i have has about 200 more CFM then the squirrel cage. We will see how it works.

I did find some 400 CFM duct fans for ventilating the generator compartment, now that there will not be a radiator fan blowing across motor. Not sure if that is enough CFM or not?  I believe a lot of the sound we have now is coming from the giant airway openings we have on the bottom of the bus for the radiator.

Also, is it worth it to run exhaust out roof?

Here are a few pics of starting to unassemble compartment.  I do have a lot of other things going on, but hopefully ill get back to this project this week. I did have a small pause when my grinder kicked back into my hand and cut through my welding glove. 3 stiches. I am recovered from that now and ready to jump back on the horse and dive into demoing rest of compartment.

Not much more to take off. Are you going to use parts from your doner bus?

Yes I am using the parts bus front end. I have model 15 front drums, pads, s-cams, slack adjusters, from Clifford. (If you are reading this, Clifford, thank you! It was a pleasure meeting you) I think the only thing I am missing is model 15 hubs. If any of you guys know where I could find one that’d be great. Haven’t had a ton of luck with the bogie brakes and drums but haven’t gone down to the truck center yet.

It was a real cram but got bus all back together by the 26th of November, and headed to Moab Utah for 1 week.  It was a great vacation.

installed all new flexible brake lines, 95% brake plumbing and fittings. Installed a new air tank in the front with a relay valve for the front brakes. New brake pads on front and boogies,  new pads and drums on rear. New spring brakes on rear.

after installing the new(er) torsilastics and adjusting bus was sitting uniformly 1” down on drivers side, but did not have time to adjust that before leaving. There is just enough adjustment in the rear to solve that: they are insanely stuck.

On the way to Moab plugged the fuel filters extremely bad so bus would not go above 15 mph, 3 miles east of Eisenhower tunnel. Ended up with some redneck engineering including a garden hose and compressed air and got it going (parked on a chain station on I70.)

ran with no problems till Moab then changed filters in Moab and had no filter problems on way home.

had to pick up chains in grandjunction for the return trip and got to chain up for vail pass thru Eisenhower pass. Good times;) (PS: my first time chaining up anything lol)

And that is the story about going to Moab with the bus in late November 😂
