As of 12/1/2021, a major update of the forum software was accomplished
Update: 4/20/2024: The Eagles email account at GoDaddy no longer works. I have set up a gmail account as a workaround: eaglesinternational.email@gmail.com (This link seems to work for my outlook email, but may not work for other email platforms. If it does not load, copy and paste the link in your platform.)
Update: 4/27/2024: I am getting some SQL error pages as I click on different areas of our forum. Using the back arrow and hitting the link again usually loads the page. I will wait for a day or two before I have GoDaddy look into the problem.

Cooling system question
Looking for information on cooling system in a 74 05
Fiberglas fan is disintegrating
I have a nylon fan and new aluminum rad but the fan
Is a pusher
My question is how will this affect cooling of the 8v92t engine

Re: Cooling system question
Mike, someone has modified your cooling system quite a bit. I have not seen an aluminum radiator made for an Eagle (assuming aluminum core and tanks), so it must be custom. As long as it is the same capacity (or better yet greater) than the original radiator, you have a decent starting place.
An 8V92 in an Eagle is a challenge to cool. That is why I hope your radiator has more cooling capacity than the original.
I have not heard of a belt driven pusher fan in an Eagle. If you are talking about electric pusher fans on the outside of the radiator, we will need another discussion.
Assuming you still have the belt driven fan, you can get replacement fans here: http://kit-masters.com/identify-your-fan/. If you order a fan from them, you should order one with more blades for more flow. They will be better than the stock blade if ordered correctly.
As I write this reply I realize that I don't understand how your system is set up (sounds highly modified). Several pictures would help us understand what you have.

Re: Cooling system question
Same setup as original almost the fan blades are opposite angle to original
Therefore instead of sucking air through fan from outside in it pushes
The air from inside through the rad to the outside
I have done this on heavy equipment (loaders, excavates etc)
But they are rear mounted not sure on side mounted as in the bus

Re: Cooling system question
If it is a custom fab aluminum with same dimensions and rows, it chould be equal or better. However, there are other variable such as number of fins per inch and type and size of the tubes in the core.
The other issue is robustness and mounting. The original Eagle radiator with the bolt on cast (I think) tanks are robust. A welded tank aluminum radiator (such as car racing radiator technology) could have some issues if not mounted properly and have "compliant" hose connections.
At least one of our members had a fabricated charge air cooler (basically same technology) and had to have it re-welded at least once.

Re: Cooling system question
Just an update
On my cooling system just finished a 300 mile
Test run and here's the results that I got
At 65 mph and about 1850 rpm
On the flats I'm sitting at 165 degrees and on the big hills
Never went above 175 degrees on the dash
Gauge
This was with aluminum rad from a 60 series and the fan as well
Fan is pushing through the rad to the outside
Seems to work good to me
Thanks for your reply Jim
I find this a great and informative site

Re: Cooling system question
Mike, it sounds like the system you have is sufficient for the conditions you tested it. However, the real test is a long hard pull on a hot day.
I am still curious about your system. I have not seen a pusher fan on an Eagle. That would pull hot air off the engine and that sounds like it would add a challenge to the cooling.
When you get a chance I would love to see pictures of what you have.
