Front 8V71 leak identification

While looking at the engine for the ID tag, I found this
and believe its my main oil leak.
Here is another look further out.
I would think there should be a cover of some sort and do see bolt holes.
To give perspective and clear location.
Thoughts?

I've heard several theories but nothing solid as what it is. One member send me a cover but its too small so the opening is still open.
One DD mechanic said it was the intercooler connection but that would mean I have a turbo engine without a turbo.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If it is on top of engine under the governor it is for the aftercooler tube just means you have a aftercooler block fwiw I have that also

What does having an aftercooler block mean and what do I cover the hole with?

Just means you can install a after cooler for a turbo engine you can cover the hole with a plate I am out of town so I cannot send you a plate

Since this is an after cooler engine, what are the odds that this engine has the lower compression needed to run a turbo? It would be cool to have an engine ready to bolt on a turbo kit.

What dawned on me is that I don't know if you were talking about the front of the bus or front of he engine (which may face the back of the bus).
But this is what I took pics of and it doesn't have anything like what yours shows.

It should be blowing air when running but I cannot tell from his photos, if he can find a bus with a 6v92 or 8v92 he can see the coolant pipe going from the after cooler to t stat housing on the right side feeding the cooler the return is under the cooler it has no return piping so don't try to find one.
His engine could be a military issue they used that entry to install the diesel fired heater inside the engine block for cold weather starting,they may have left the flame burner inside the engine and just removed the fuel inlets if it is a military engine who knows without seeing it in person
