door mounting bolts
The previous owner of my bus removed the main doors to install an ungodly refrigerator, once I get the refer out I will reinstall the doors but the bolts have been lost. What size bolts and how many do I need to buy?

Re: door mounting bolts
Damn what kinda of a door I can tell you if has the original bi/fold doors. If they just removed the door from the hinges it take 8-5/16x1" standard thread bolts and 8- 1/4 in x 1in standard thread for the bottom guide. If they removed the hinges it take 20- 5/16 x 1-1/2 in long standard thread bolts
good luck

Re: door mounting bolts
They are the original bifold doors and everything was removed so that the fridge would fit.
Thank you for the info. I will see about buying bolts on my next trip to the bus.

With your bi/fold doors. How do you secure them closed? More specifically, how do you lock them closed while you are away?luvrbus wrote: I can tell you if has the original bi/fold doors.

Re: door mounting bolts
They had brackets on each door at the bottom where a padlock would secure the doors

Re: door mounting bolts
The seller found some bolts and installed the doors enough that I could somewhat close them and get my bus home. Now I need to learn how they are suppose to work and fix and finish the doors so that I can use them.
If anyone has a diagram of how the main doors are suppose to work I would appreciate the assistance.
Thank you.

Re: door mounting bolts
Darryl, I looked in my maintenance manual and there is a section on bi-fold doors, but it concentrates on the air/control system. I could not find any info in the parts manual.
I have to wonder out loud if you want to put all that much effort in making the bi-fold doors work properly. I don't know of any conversions that use the bi-fold. All (most?) of us have a single door. Some made their own doors, others welded the two bi-fold doors together and used heavy duty stainless steel piano hinge on the front.
The piano hinge is a compromise. Some have made some amazing hinges - see Wayne Schell's amazing project documentation. Here is the page where his discussion of the front door hinge begins: http://eagles-international.net/forums/ ... 2&start=50

Re: door mounting bolts
Jim, I do intend to use the factory doors to get me started. Ideally using the factory switch to keep the door closed while traveling and release the air when parked. Currently they need to have new rubber put around them and one glass replaced but other than that they are in decent shape.
Eventually I will take the two doors and combine them into one. There have been some great examples of that on this site. If you look at what Van has on his Eagle you would swear they are standard doors.

Re: door mounting bolts
With so many projects going on with my bus I am choosing to put making a new one piece door lower down the list and just fix the factory doors. With that, I'm looking for the fitting that holds the push rod to the door on the main door. Also a diagram for how the factory doors are to be connected and operate. As you stand outside the bus looking at the door, the right door doesn't open all the way and the left one is missing the fitting.
Not sure why the pics keep showing sideways but will get it worked out.
Thank you
