Any updates on this project?
Is this system inteneed to improve ride, provide a means to improve ground clearance at steep drives and RR crossings, or provide a means to level when parked?

Sorry guys. I've been doing other stuff instead of working on the bus. grandaD, I designed this kit so that it can handle the total weight of the bus. Intended for a torsion that is COMPLETELY blown. It could be used just as a supplemental also. It obviously could be used for leveling the coach very easily. On another note, we are not going to be trying to market this as a product from us however, I would be more than to share the drawings and solid models of it if anyone was truly interested in converting there own bus.

Jeffrey, I guess we all understand that running a business and making money must come first. :D

I think your drive axle design is great and would love to document it a bit better. Do you have a way to produce PDF versions of the drawings? If not, could you send me DFX files that I can import to my AutoCad and then I can generate the PDF files. If we can get the drawings in a PDF format. I will post them here. If you send me the DXF files, I may post them here as well if I can find a way.

Did you ever work on the bogey design? The need for that design is perhaps greater than the need for the drive axle since indexing is a terrible job and we have no way to take the load off the bogey to gain a little extra traction.

David, if you are following this thread, would you mind sending me the drawings you got from Norris and I will find a way to post them here

Jim,

I scanned them as a jpeg. Let me know if you need it differently. I could email them to you. They are faxes that Norris sent me in 2006

David, those JPGs posted as thumbnails (as designed for larger photos). By clicking on the photo you get a larger version and with some browsers, you can blow the photo up a bit. You can also download the JPGs and then enlarge them with one of the photo software programs. Obviously, since they are based on a fax, the detail will be limited. Thanks for posting them.

The only issue with those photos, is they do not detail the frame structure.

The Eagle system uses double convoluted air bags. From a ride standpoint these kinds of bags are not as good as the rolling lobe type bag. However, as Clifford pointed out, the Eagle system was designed for leveling rather than as the actual suspension.

I have always worried about the impact of air suspension systems on the bogey Torsilastics. I don't think they are all that robust, and if you were to dump the air on the drive axle, it could overload the bogey - depending on how they were adjusted.

The reason I had these copies was that I was going to attempt a leveling system on my 10 back it 2006. I spoke with Dave Gregory at Southern Oregon Diesel about it and he recommended against it saying I would very dissatisfied with the results. I had even bought the sleeves to saddle over the torsion bars. After his recommendation I abandoned the project and bought me a 6 ton harbor freight jack to level the coach. I've never been disappointed with it yet. ;) It looks kind of hillbilly at the campsite, but it works.
