[quote="Songman"]Hey buddy... I will write up a tutorial.
Having just finished installing a towmaster towbar and base plates on my HHR toady, I was feeling pretty smug, I had a clear cut sense of accomplishment about me, and then I saw this string.
Jeeze, now I just want to fill the tub with luke warm water, light some candles and slit my wrists!
Incredible, an amazing adventure in design, good job!

Hey Don, How about a write-up in the tech section about that HHR tow bar. My wife has an HHR and I would love to see what you did.
Glad to see you back, Steve. Looking forward to seeing all you are getting done.

Basically all I did was buy the materials and the set up (IE:towbar and baseplates) and install them, not that awful bad, but difficult as you already know, because the HHR has that extremely low ground clearance. We have a '08 Tahoe which I feel would have been a lot simplier, but I didn't want to tow a big car (4X4 - 4 door) and wanted the HHR for the 27-29 MPG and zippy feel after getting out of a bus.
It is a good set up and is well engineered, not a whole lot of surprises. I don't have time for articles or any of that, as I am in the middle of a 40X70 bus shop project and a new home for "Daddy's Hobby" and that has kept me really hooked up since last August.
Maybe later, but right now, not feasible.

I've lowered our HHR 2 inches too. Might not be the best choice for towing. Thanks.

Hi Guys , We had an HHR as a tow and we loved it . One word of caution
Be sure and pull the fuse that is in the fuse block on the right side panel by the console if your going to tow it for more than 3 days . I learned the hard way and had to jump the battery . But other than that they are sweet to pull.

After crawling around the shop on my belly like a west Texas reptile for two days, I cannot imagine "lowering and HHR" 2 inches more than it comes stock. I read the pulling instructions in the owners manual first before towing and it mentions the fuse you were talking about.
Neat little truck, wanted to paint it like a woody wagon, but the wife nixed that. Marriage has it's trade offs it seems.

Wow Steve, you have been making great progress since I saw the bus last October.
Unfortunately the photos do not do justice to the innovation and quality of your work.
I sure hope that you can get that sucker on the road this year. Any chance of making it to Branson in October - even as a fancy "tin tent"?
