Wheel Mounting Hardware

Post by beltguy »

This thread will cover the studs and nuts for mounting wheels.

A question came up in a discussion with a member about part numbers for the assorted hardware that mount the wheels to the bus.  I did some searching on the forum and found a few threads that had some information, but is was a bit confusing and some data was questionable.  That sent me on a search to try to define the hardware.  Wayne Schell helped me get a handle on how the hardware "interacted".  I think that information presented here is correct, but would welcome any input.

I am fairly confident that this information is for the model 10 and probably model 05 stud mounted wheels.  The information that follows is based on aluminum wheels, but should work for steel wheels.  The are lots of vendors of this hardware with various part numbers, but there seems to be a common numbering system that can used for cross reference.

Remember that the driver side hardware is left hand thread.   That is the side that is most prone to damage by minimally trained tire jockeys.

So lets just jump in.
