LED Signal Replacements
Since there are no new lenses bases to buy, I was forced to make LED conversions.

Very nice. Where did you get the led,s they fit nicely in the eagle housing. I with the help of a friend made boards that fit in the eagle housing.

Wow, great work. I am jealous of you digital mill.
Did you have to do anything to the flasher or add a resistor to trigger the flasher?
It looks like the LED strips could be used with the old base plates. What LED units did you use?
When Wayne and Geoff were building his units there was discussion about whether to use red LEDs under the red cover. It has been a while, but I think they used red.

The LEDs emit white light, so the RED lenses look a tiny bit more orange compared to the OEM bulbs. The bases were widdled from HDPE plastic from McMaster-Carr:

Re: LED Signal Replacements
I am pretty sure we used red and amber leds. Geoff did a great job designing and making the boards but if those leds are off the shelf it would be easier to make them that way.

Re: LED Signal Replacements
Wayne, This looks great!
I do have a question I hope you can save me the time of answering myself. LOL...
Why wouldn't you just change out the bulbs? Did it have anything to do with resistance for older flasher actuation? I get that they look great with the 2 square light blocks and that may be reason enough to build what you did but, can you tell me what your research found? Thank you so much. I am looking to do the change over to LED myself right now while in the shop for the next few weeks. I also have the single configuration headlights square on the model 7. I am looking at changing those out to LED as well but maintaining the stock look. Any thoughts appreciated from you or anyone here.

Re: LED Signal Replacements
At the time I had some Led tail lights that were made for the Eagle 25. They blew up within a matter of minutes. I went ahead and made some boards with the help of Jim and Geoff to replace the ones for the 25. The old housing and lenses were not in that good of shape. You can find bulbs that fit the sockets but most of the sockets I have seen are rusty and need work. You will have to change out the flasher no matter what way you go. On my 15 the head lights are 2 square lights on each side. They are the same lights that Kenworth uses and that made it easy to change to Leds.
hope this helps.

Re: LED Signal Replacements
Sorry I've been MIA, but my Mother passed and had to put the bus on the shelf for a bit. Now I'm back.
The main reason was that the old lense frames were brittle/broken/warped, and the screw nuts were rusted. I know you can still buy new, but I also wanted to try out LED. Will get the remainder installed this winter.
