JANUARY IN THE DESERT

There will be an NRG (Non Rally Gathering) of busnut folks this January near Scottsdale, AZ. This will coincide with collector car auction week, including the big Barrett-Jackson auction and several others. Come one, come all for great buses, friends, weather and neat vehicles.

This is NOT an organized rally, nor sanctioned by any club, just a group of great people and buses getting together at a great time and place. Everyone is free to do their own thing.

The dates do not conflict with Quartzesite or the FMCA Indio rally, so you can hit all three if you choose. The particulars are:

DATES:
January 11-17/2014, plus or minus as many days as you wish. The first day of Barrett-Jackson is Jan. 12, which is family day and the day you can get admission cheap. Vehicles and other items are auctioned later in the week and package entrance prices are available. There are also other auctions going on that week in the area.

PLACE:
The NRG will be at McDowell Mountain Regional Park which is four miles north of the city of Fountain Hills, AZ., which is about 20 minutes east of the Barret-Jackson West World location. This is a Maricopa County park that is over 20,000 acres of pristine desert environment. Paved roads, no dust, super clean. They have a beautiful campground with full 50A and all the amenities. The spaces are wide open and spaced far apart. Miles of trails. Dark and quiet at night. Spaces are reserved on line or by phone and at 25.00/day with a 14 day max stay. You can pick your spot and view the info and pictures of each space at: http://www.maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
phone is 480-471-0173

Information on the Barrett-Jackson and other auctions is readily available on the internet. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/scottsdale/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There is a nice Indian casino and RV park at Fort McDowell
community but the RV park is probably already booked up. One of the auctions is at the casino. As of today there is still ample availability at Fort McDowell Regional Park but I highly suggest you reserve now, it is going to fill up.

I am just the messenger here guys, not an organizer. I have booked my spot for two weeks beginning Jan. 11. Once again, everyone is free to do their own thing, it is an NRG. Quite a few have already booked.

I wanted to post this with Eagles first, then in a few days I will put this up on the other bus boards. Any questions, give a shout. Come one, come all, have a margarita. Tell your friends.

Thanks,

Mark

LOL, I don't eat raw fish either Clifford but maybe you can afford a hamburger, lol. After walking for 8 hours at Barrett-Jackson I will probably be ready. There is usually around 1,000-1,200 vehicles to look at, even a few buses.

Mark, et all

FWIW Miss Kelley has already booked space #61 (Jan 10-15th) :D Can't wait to do the auctions and hang with our bus buddies. We are trying to fit Indio in there but not sure yet. We are passing on Quartzsite. Hopefully the Yuma gang and Colorado gang can make it to Scottsdale too. The auctions have been a bucket list item for me for a long time. Thank-you Mark for getting the ball rolling on this. "While were at it" ..haha...maybe some of you east coast folks can fly out and party with us!! We'll shuttle you around...Could be epic..
...and sushi Clifford......Kelley & I say "bring it on".... :P

Cheers,

Randy & Kelley Coons

Thinking of doing that very thing, Eric. In a few years. Grandkids growing up fast so I am already looking down the road on the sell off of both of them and all my shop equipment. There is about 25 Silversides that have already been shipped to Europe. Hey how about hopping in that pretty Eagle and coming out to the desert for some R&R in January?

I would love to cruise over! I sit and watch the BJ auctions for hours. I think I would end up in trouble if I actually went to it! One of these days I am going to just quit working and ride the bus. The boss has only four years left till she retires. Hopefully then! I have never seen anything like the silversides go thru. but I would bet a nickel it would cause a lot of nods and waves!

Hey guys, just a reminder. There are still a handful of spots left at the park for the NRG in January. Get out of the cold and snow and come on down!
