Well I unbolted the front shifting tower, spun it all around, scraped on it, and tried to find a number, any number, but there is no number on the front tower that I could see. :?
So I went to the back and scrubbed on the receiver and there was a number!!
The raised number is 149-D-117 but there is an etched number that appears to be 2 F
I called eaton some time ago, they said it went to Freightliner and Freightliner installed the shift mechanism. Freighliner also installed the clutch. He was able to tell me it was a Freightliner chassis, but beyond that he had no idea. I think it is a 1991 or so model year.
I pulled the plug off the other end, and the shift rod on the transmission goes all the way through! So now I am really lost on what this transmission was installed in brand new? :| :| :?:

:D :D

I had a suspicion when you listed the 8V71 and 9 speed for sale.

I have to say that you are taking the easy way out :D ;) With the donor bus you will have the shallow pan, all the wiring, and the world transmission.

Have fun and keep us posted.

Yep! I didn't really want to deal with changing the oil pan and mating a transmission, So now it will be relatively simple....
If you can call it simple. Wayne hit the nail on the head when he said "stuffed"!!
Right now it has a hydraulic fan, I am still deciding whether or not to keep it. I know there are many, many opinions on the subject, but I don't have too much room for the hydraulic tank and cooler right now... :?
Right now I am planning to get the eagle as ready as possible for the swap, that way I won't have the Bluebird clogging up the shop for toooo long  So far I have a long list of parts I will use off the bluebird, wiper motors, front heating and a/c system, wiring, Hydraulic pump for power steering, air ride drivers seat, Maybe ever the pantograph bay doors! 8-)
So I may have a lot of pictures in the near future! ;)

When we picked the bus up at the school it was empty, so we swung by the station and put in what should of been plenty to get it home. So last night we start it up, let it air up, and start to pull around when it completely dies.  Just enough angle. So now we have to go get more fuel and see how to prime it. I thought I would take the filter off and see if it was full. So as I was squirming around trying to get it loose I just happen to see that the fuel priming button was about 4 inches from my nose. So I hit that until i felt it get solid, started it and got it turned around and pulled it in the barn. Finally!! :)

Well I'm sure glad we put the oil resistant coating on the floor!!! :x
But the engine is almost unhooked, I tried to drain all the fluids into containers, well you know how that goes...

Took the dash all apart, trying to figure out the wiring...
