Thanks, guys! :)

Jim, thanks for the recommendation. Not sure we want to convert our fuel system, tho. ;)

I have verified that I am not loosing prime, we have started 4 or 5 times since first start with no issues (besides batteries! ).

On Thursday it was a beautiful day here, we decided to pull the bus out side and completely clean the shop.

Well, bus would not go into gear...

So got the Allison troubleshooting manual and traced down to a broken wire in the ECU to tranny harness.

Long story short we got extremely lucky the wire was fatigued through only 8 inches from the transmission.

So after splicing 2 wires tonight the bus goes in gear :D

And now it is snowing.. :x grr!

But, on the plus side, you have once again solved a mystery problem that some garage would have charged you plenty for. Some of the very best moments you will have with your Eagle are times like these where you can feel deep satisfaction. On the other hand, there will be many more such moments, so be prepared for overwhelming fulfillment. :D I would not be afraid to switch the fuel filters over to the Davco style, particularly if you can get a used one at a good price. They do enable easier priming, provide visual sighting of filter condition, and the filters are cheaper. It could replace both filters, or you could use it to just replace the primary. It can be mounted in the rear where it will be much easier to service, it has moisture collection and a drain, and they have heated versions for cold weather. There are a lot of them on eBay right now for about $75, used.

Well we will have to look into the davco filters.

Today we were able to pull it out of the barn, and do a “spring clean”, got all out unused parts out, and washed the floor down.

And we are having a little WWAI action on the baggage bays, it started with making a spot for the generator but quickly escalated! I’ll post pics once we are more done with that.

Only about 10,000 more details to take care of, keep going! :o Is that 12 gauge diamond plate steel or aluminum? If it is steel the weight over stock will continue to climb. I know, you are not concerned about the weight, but I am. You might be behind me some day on the highway, and your brakes are not as big as mine. Model 01 & 05's have smaller brakes than Model 10 & 15's. ;)

At least now it is just little stuff, every thing looks easier after swapping the engine! ;)
Which is almost done, just a few more little details....

Walter it is on the bucket list to some year replace bogies with m15 bogies, and maybe steers, also. I have 6 cylinder jakes, also ;) 8-) not that they would help in an emergency stop situation.

Brake pads on 05 are pretty small, but I have heard today’s pickups have bigger brakes the m01s

Anyways, how much extra weight does Gary Labombard have on his 05? Seems he had even more structural modifications than mine?! :?

Btw, has anyone heard from him recently?

I traded a few messages with him last fall, he still has a number of health issues that are slowing him down, but he still wants to get his Eagle going this spring so he can make a trip to Maine. But that was before the latest invasion of virus, so I suspect he might be off schedule. His Eagle has to be the heaviest one around. All of the modifications he made makes yours look like a lightweight. He asked me what I thought of his crash reinforcement of the front, and I said I did not think it would necessarily deflect an oncoming vehicle downward as he had hoped, and that the only way to test that would be a crash test that would set him back time-wise. I have not heard from him since. I think he is close to twenty years on that project.

The fact that you have six cylinder Jacobs is good, I only have four, as the front two are lower to clear the frame. My brakes still have more sweep area, so you better space back behind me. The way things are nowadays, it appears that there are only three or four people on this forum actually sending messages. It sure would be nice if a few more people would join the conversations.

By the way, it looks like my top speed is 78 mph @ 2100 rpm, with a 3:36 rear. I also discovered that my transmission is not a HT741, but rather it is a HT746, which is very similar, but with a more compact shape on the driveshaft end. The Allison dealer that serviced it last had told me it was a HT741, but I uncovered the plate yesterday because I was suspicious that it looked different than my HT740 in the Model 10. There is not too many of them around, and not too much mention of them in the manuals.

I talked to Gary a few weeks ago. He is plugging along. He has bought a class C motorhome in order to travel some.

Thanks for the verification on your transmission ratio!

And 10-4 on the amount of posting members...

For Jim and Wayne: working on my fan drive, why would you run an extra idler with spring to tension belts? I am thinking I do not have room, and I sure don’t see it on the stock eagle...
