1980 Fatal Eagle Bus Crash Investigation

Post by beltguy »

This is a slightly off-topic post.

I ran across some information about a fatal Eagle bus crash that occurred in Jasper Arkansas in 1980. I have attached an article from the Chicago Tribune and a copy of the NTSB crash investigation report.

The text in the article is almost impossible to read, so I have posted the text of the article in a PDF (below)

Being an Engineer (we are a strange animal), I have always enjoyed reading crash investigation reports - especially aircraft accidents. I thought maybe some of you might like to see what all goes on when an accident is thoroughly investigated.

Thanks for the report, Jim. Those are always interesting reading.

Central Texas had a lot of financial problems. They bought this, some other 01's and a number of Old Look 05's from Continental in Dallas. Continental repo'ed most of the later ones because Central Texas had gotten behind with the payments. I visited Central Texas once in the mid-80's, so five to eight years after this incident. They did not seem all that professional but they weren't fly-by-night either. I'm sure they are long gone today.

7090 was new to Continental Arkansas Lines as 7714, 23714 from 1969.
