Problems with our website and HughesNet

Post by beltguy »

OK folks this is like asking for those not present to hold their hands up.

If anyone is trying to connect to our website via satellite Internet (HughesNet) they are almost certainly having problems, or can't connect at all. If you know of anyone having a problem, be sure to let the know the site is working and we are trying to find a solution.

This all began a week or so ago. The host of our site was hit very hard by spammers/hackers. It got so bad that he had to set up a different server for several sites he hosts. When that happened, it appears that HughesNet has some issue with the new server and reports various problems with the site.

I started a thread on a forum that deals with the mobile version of HughesNet:

http://www.datastormusers.com/ubb/ultim ... 01826.html

If you look at that thread, you will see that several folks report problems - some with only intermittent problems.

Folks with other Internet connection sources are not having problems. To get on our site, I have to disconnect from a reasonably high speed HughesNet connection and swith to our Verizon aircard to get on. The Verizon signal at the house is terrible - even with an antenna. Right now our speed is, at best, dial-up speed .

This problem is being worked on. It appears that it is a HughesNet problem and they are very hard to work with - very poor customer service.

Just an FYI

A bit of an update. The problem with HughesNet continues.

The strange thing is that is works sometimes and not others. Just now, I had to use the Verizon aircard to get on.
