1966 Eagle 04

Post by Dreamscape »

I can't find any documentation on VIN# 1285. Does anyone have anything?

I received an email today from the new owner with a few pics. I've invited him over here to join, we'll see what happens.

I see he did join today!

I Totally Forgot About It Once I Got Home  I Remember Talking To The People Who Owned It And They Said They Would Send Me Pictures Etc. And Now I See The Email With All The Pictures That Were Sent .. While I Was Out Having Fun.....,,DARN,,

I Got My Hands Full Anyway.

Sounded Like A Guy Could Have Got A GREAT Deal On This Rare Eagle.....

Thanks Paul.

Paul, you are not going to find much on the 04 they were not built for the US market, the few over here out of the 20 or so built were imported around 1970 they were never sold here as a new unit as the best I can find out.
But check with Vanderhoff, Michaud and Kraft they each had one Trailways never used the model 04.
I know where one is at in Idaho that came over with a M/B 5 cylinder diesel in it

good luck

I know, just thought I would try again to see if any new responses would result! ;)

I just hope the new owner starts telling us about it. I'll be interesting to hear about it.

Well All I Know About The 04 Eagle Paul Is.... You And I Are Going To Drive One Sometime Soon.... :?    Across Country With NO Windows...

Funny How I Keep Forgetting About That One :x

I Just Bought Some Really COOL 04 Eagle Pictures And A Overseas Pamplet That Also Shows The 04.

Also.... I Have An Original Parts Manual For The 04 Eagle...With A Seperate Manual With All The Parts Numbers & Parts Prices.
NOW THIS IS COOL... Gotta Be Worth More Than The 04 I Bought :o

The Guy Who Just Retired From Jefferson (I Cant Remember His Name)? (Its On The Tip Of My Tounge)..ANYWAY... He Told The PO That He Had NEVER Seen Any Manuals For The 04 And Had Him Send The Book So He Could Make A Copy For His Self. (That Was Nice Of Ron (The PO)).

Someday...I Would Like To Buy An Original 04 All Original Including Seats. There Might Be 1 or 2 Left On This Planet ?? Clifford Said He Has Seen Them And That They Had A 8V53 DD. !!! WOW How Cool....I Heard They Were Real Talkers ( Sound Good ). But, Then On The Other Hand. They Might Be Worth Too Much Money.!!

Where The HELL Would You Find A Set Of Hub Caps ??

Great Topic....Maybe We Can All Learn Somemore...

With That 04 Eagle Having A Vin Number Of 1285 .... This Very Well Could Have Been The First 04 Built. ??

My Parts Book Has Vin Numbers Up To 1305
That Makes 20 Buses.

What I Can Find So Far Is That .. Eagle Built Only 20 Of These 04s ? But, I Really Feel There Were More Than 20 Built....I Will Keep Digging.

Its Confusing...But, If We Could Only Find A New Member That Worked In Germany Around 67-68 At BUS & CAR...We Might Find Some Answers.... Well, Im Sure Thats Wishfull Thinking.

There Is A Nice Picture Of A 04 Eagle On The Internet. The Bus Looks To Be All Original And Is Sitting At A Show Of Some Kind.....Thats The Guy We Need To Talk To....He Might Know ??

John,

My records show that there were 70 Eagle Model 04's built starting with serial no. 1274 and ending with serial no. 1343. I show your bus originally being sold to ETN-Holland with there assigned bus number of 108. My records show that the bus was a 1967 model. Non of my records show any Model 04's being sold directly to anyone in the United States, however; I show several going to British Columbia, Canada as second owners. To my recollection, I think there was only 4-6 Model 04's eventually brought into the U.S.

Dan, 6 maybe the magic number for the 04 the ones I know about anyway we have 3 in the club 1 is Lonnie 2 is Ducket, then you have John #3
Then I met a old guy at Quartzsite named Steve Barrier that has one with 6v92 and a 740 and he bought his from Lou and installed the 6v92 his self.
Then you have Jim Lane in Melba Id that the one with a M/B engine and now you have this other I think that is Bobs 04 from back east if it has a bad reverse in the transmission I know it is if not that could be #7

Yes, it's the one with the bad reverse gear, in the process of pulling the transmission now.

If it don't fit, you need a bigger hammer (measure twice, cut once, throw it away, make a drink, and worry about it tomorrow)
