Eagle-01 ‘For Sale’ (sold)

Post by rhbelter »

My Eagle-01 ‘For Sale’

Ahoy, Eagle Folks,

My Silver Eagle-01 -w- 400hp Cummins Motor home bus conversion is reluctantly for sale!!!! Right here in Carmel, CA.

Strictly an ‘age’ thing. My current health is OK, but I’m a truly certified ‘OLD FELLOW’, or words to that general effect. We are no longer able to make the long trips which we have enjoyed.

OK, so this Eagle is ALMOST FIFTY YEARS OLD!!!!!!
However, I’m fond of observing that there is little in it which is very old --- OTHER THAN THE DRIVER.

This bus is NOT for everyone. As noted below, you must be technically able handle it, and it really is a ‘fit’ for someone who plans to run a lot on miles, because it is so economical that there is scarcely anyone in second place. There is cosmetic interior work which needs to be completed, but you won’t find stuff which must be re-done.

This Silver Eagle is NOT a back-lot critter, hauled out of the weeds and fired up to sell. It has been a ‘running – going – concern’ motor home for almost twenty years now.

For a person who can handle it, this Eagle bus is a remarkable bargain at $25,000 !!!!! I expect that there are a number of you denizens of the ‘Eagle Works’ who can handle it very nicely. And --- I will continue to drop the price until someone gets it. It will NOT be close to free, because I have a very competent nephew waiting for it if you all are cheap screws, or afraid of it.

UNIQUE FACTORS:

Please contact me –w- your email address, so that I can forward
lottssaa pages of additional info, and Picasa pix links. Here are a few of the very unique features.

THE ELECTRICS:

Noted above, this is entirely different from probably any other bus on earth. I looked at the ‘half ton’ of big old fat wires in this Eagle, and decided to get rid of them and try to do better. I really did, too. Computer cabling --- RS232 cable, consisting of nine, fifteen, and twenty five pin connectors do the job of connecting everything through a ‘mutha-board’. These wires control ‘DIN’ relays, which infest the earth, (and this bus). Most people who buy a bus conversion get NUTHIN’, but you get good ACAD.dwg for all the electrics. Has been very reliable.

THE SHIFTER:
SYNCHRO:

TEN Speed overdrive RoadRanger RTO1110
There is a road speed signal taken from the transmission, and a ‘map’ which details the gear for each speed range. Another engine speed signal goes into the Allen Bradley PLC, which is mounted above the driver seat. There is a display up front which shows which gear is the target. Pull the trigger on the shifter, and the engine is ‘goosed’ to synch. Just drag it into the displayed gear. It really is that easy, though it requires some learning. The benefit is ease of driving this ‘crash-box transmission’ which is a part of the remarkable fuel mileage which is achieved.

Hi Bob

Mixed emotions. Glad you sold your bus, but sad that we won't get to see you give the "tours" that you used to give. What an amazing job you did with the electronics!

I added the word "sold" to you subject line.

Hope we get to see you in the future and enjoy your wonderful sense of humor.
