It's working now.

This bus was originally Safeway Lines 32594. The entire Safeway fleet got transfered to Virginia Stage Lines during a strike in the 70's and all the buses were renumbered so Continental could keep using them. This one became 34653 for the duration and took it's original number back after things had been resolved.

Is the dog included in the price?

I forgot to mention that this was one of 220 05's made in 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1972 that got a midlife rebuild at the age of seven years. The buses went to the Brownsville plant, were stripped down to the frame and were rebuilt to as new condition. That saved Continental a good chunk of money and many of them were running at the end in 1987. It also kept the Eagle factory busy during that time.

8055 was some special product (prototype, demonstrator, different standard equipment...) or originally made for the European market. That bus was never owned by Continental so it was never rebuilt. It might be an 05 or a 12. Is it really 96 inches wide or is it 98.4 or thereabouts? Also, how long is it? European coaches were between 11 and 12 meters long back then depending on where they were first registered. In other words, it won't necessarily come out to 40 feet if it was first sold in Europe

I have no info on 8055 so if you know who the original owner was, I'd be pleased to have that info. I'm only aware of three 8000's in the Continental fleet. The two prototype 05's and the special prototype 02 or 03 that was 40 feet long, 102 inches wide and had only two axles. It looked somewhat like an 04 an not like an 01 or 05.

As to your question of when these buses were rebuilt, it would have started in 1976 when the 1969 models became seven years old and the program should have finished in 1978. Remember that Brownsville production started very late in 1974 so 1975 was the first full year the factory was running. They were pretty busy correcting the various problems the earliest models had so it wasn't until 1976 that the factory was able to take the rebuild program on as well as building new buses.

Hi, Jim

Your 6982 was a 1966 model that originally went to Safeway Trails as S-711. It became 32738 in 1969 during the general fleet renumbering that took place at the time but it still belonged to Safeway. At some later point it was transfered to Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo (commonly called DCSP) and became 18725. It ended it's Continental days wearing that number.
