Stone Bennett gear selector

Post by AUSSIE EAGLE 10 »

Gidday all! I was digging around under the bus, going thru boxes and found this kit from Stone Bennett for changing gears on my Allison 740. It's all brand new but it's now old technology?? Should I use it? Or should I sell it off and replace it with something more up to date?

The Allison 740 is a mechanical control transmission (non-electronic). There are no "modern" shifting solutions that I am aware of.

Folks with Stone Bennett shifting systems seem to love them.

It would help if there were numbers on the parts or pictures, it probably is not for the Allison at all, it might be for a RoadRanger 10 speed manual, or something else yet. Your previous owner might have traded a lot of parts to get what he has on the Eagle.

I have a Stone Bennett shifter on my 740 and love it. Please post some pics so I can see what you have. I also have a manual for it in PDF.

We stand corrected, that looks like a Allison 740 shifter kit, according to the pictures on coachconversioncentral.com site.

That is exactly the same shift pad and everything else that I have in ours. I've attached a wiring schematic that may help. It's also recommended that you add a water filter as the air line goes into the block, which I did. It shifts real smooth with just a flick of the toggle switch.
