My apologies, I think I somehow deleted a post by Joe Laird. It somehow got into the "reported" folder and I clicked on the wrong button.

In any case, I think Joe said that his 05 has an Alarmstat that monitors his non-DDEC engine.

We need to clarify shut down protection provided systems for electronic engines vs mechanical engines.

Electronic engines (in the majority of our applications that would be DDEC for Detroit, but could be other systems for other engines) have very powerful engine monitoring system with software that either de-powers or shuts down the engine if any of the critical sensors go out of limit. Those systems offer excellent engine protection.

Mechanical engines do not have shut down systems provided by the engine manufacture. The vehicle manufacturer can (and often does) install protection that ranges from simple sensors to more sophisticated systems such as the Alarmstat http://www.alliedsystems.com/pdf/Wagner ... 80-333.pdf
