Having Fun In the Eagle

Post by beltguy »

Hi Folks

It has been slow on the forum lately, so I thought I would mention two trips Pat and I have made in the bus this past few weeks. Both of the trips involved fun car activities.

The first trip was to Salina, KS to attend the KKOA Leadsleds (custom car event). That was the last week of July. We stayed in a beautiful Bureau of Reclamation campground and I commuted to show three days.

We were home for a bit over a week and then headed out to Bonneville for Speed Week. We just got home today.

I have been going to the KKOA events for over 30 years and have taken my 56 Chevy several times (not this year). It is always an amazing event with over 1000 cars.

I have gone to Bonneville several times over the past 25 years. The event is beyond description. While I was there two records were established at over 400 mph. In addition to the race cars, there are dozens of rods/customs/rat rods of every description.

I have attached two photos. They show me putting a Bonneville license plate frame on the Eagle. I have owned the frame for several years, but would not put it on the bus until it made the trip to the Saltflats. I have gone 2 or 3 times in the past few years in rented cars as a part of my teaching assignments, so the actual installation had to wait for this year.

The two trips totaled over 2200 miles with no problems.
